M R Steels

M R Steels is up on the 7th floor of Building 18/1 on Maharshi Debendra Road. Getting up here sometimes takes a bit because the area is always packed. Barabazar is just like that. We have our room, R/114, where most of the paperwork happens. It’s a bit of a maze if you aren’t used to these old buildings in this part of town. The steel business is mostly about phones ringing and checking what’s in stock. We spend a lot of time talking to transporters. It gets quite noisy downstairs with all the carts and people moving stuff. Some days are just slower than others, depending on how the market is moving. We’ve been at this spot for a while now. The walls are a bit dusty and the files are stacked high, but it works for us. You can see the rooftops from the window here, which is nice when you need a break from the computer. Most of our day is spent making sure orders get out to where they need to go. It isn’t fancy work, just regular daily stuff. We drink a lot of tea while sorting out the bills and talking to the people who drop by. Sometimes the lift is moody, so we just wait or take the stairs if we’re in a rush. It’s just how things go around here on Maharshi Debendra Road. We don't bother much with making the office look modern.
