Lake Art

Lake Art is up on the first floor of BJ Market, which is Shop No 69. We are right in Salt Lake City Sector 2, on Salt Lake Road, Kolkata 700091. BJ Market is one of those places where you can find almost anything if you look hard enough. Being on the first floor means we are a bit away from the main noise of the ground floor stalls, but you can still hear the shouting and the smells of the food stalls. The shop is quite small, packed with whatever we are working on at the time. We don’t have a fancy showroom or a big display window. It’s more of a workspace where things actually get done. Salt Lake is a planned area, so the streets are a bit straighter, but the market is still as chaotic as any other part of Kolkata. We’ve been in this specific shop for a few years now. The name Lake Art came naturally because of the location. We don't do any big corporate advertising. Most people find us because they were already in BJ Market buying fish or vegetables and saw our sign. We keep our hours pretty regular, though sometimes we stay late if there’s a lot to do. It’s just us, some basic furniture, and the tools of our trade. No fancy mission statements here, just a lot of daily work in a busy market. We like the energy of the place and the people who drop by for a chat.
