Kusumjatra Fed Producer Company Limited

Our company is based in the village of Kusumjatra, near Ahmedpur in the Birbhum district. We use a space at Arimdam Chatterjee’s place to manage things. This is a local group of producers who wanted to have a better way to manage our harvests. Birbhum has its own way of doing things, and we fit right into that. Ahmedpur is the nearest big spot, but our heart is in the fields around Kusumjatra. It’s a lot of work to keep a producer company running. We have to coordinate between many different people, deal with the government rules, and make sure the crops are actually selling. We don’t have a big staff. It is usually just a few of us sitting around Arimdam’s place, going over the numbers and planning for the next season. It gets dusty, and in the summer, it’s quite hot, but that’s just life here. We aren't trying to impress anyone with a fancy office. We just want to make sure the work gets done properly. Most of the people involved are neighbors or have known each other for years. We share the same problems and try to find local solutions. It’s a very grounded way of doing business. We stay busy with the cycles of the land and try to keep our focus on what matters to the farmers in this corner of West Bengal. It is just plain work without any of the extra polish.
