Radharani Steel Corner

Radharani Steel Corner is right at No. 5 Station Road in Jadavpur. Being so close to the station means there is never a quiet moment. You can hear the trains coming in and the constant stream of people walking past our doors. Our shop is full of heavy things—steel rods, sheets, and various metal parts that we sell to builders and local folks fixing up their homes. It is a dusty environment, and your hands are bound to get dirty if you spend more than five minutes here. We have a heavy wooden desk where we keep the ledger and handle the cash, and it has seen a lot of use over the years. We do not have a website or a marketing department. People mostly find us because they have been coming here for a long time or they saw the sign while walking to the train. The space is a bit dark because of all the metal stacked up, but we have some bright fluorescent lights that do the job. We spend a lot of time measuring out lengths of steel and helping customers load things onto their rickshaws or trucks. It is physically demanding work, and we usually end the day pretty tired. We share a pot of tea in the afternoon and talk to the neighbors. It is just a straightforward steel business, no bells or whistles, just honest work on a busy station road.
