J. K. Steel Corporation

Down here at 22 Rabindra Sarani, things are always moving fast. Being in Tiretta Bazar means there’s never a quiet moment outside the door. Our place is tucked into G/45 and G/46, and if you’ve ever been to this part of the city, you know how crowded the lanes get. It’s an old building, nothing modern about it, but it serves us well for J. K. Steel Corporation. We spend most of our time dealing with steel orders and talking to people who come by looking for specific items. The walls are lined with ledgers and there’s usually a pile of samples sitting in the corner. Sometimes it gets a bit chaotic with the loaders and the traffic right outside, but we’ve gotten used to the noise. We don’t have a big reception area or anything like that. It’s just us sitting at our desks, taking calls and checking inventory. Most of our day is spent making sure the right steel gets to the right place. It’s a lot of manual work, checking weights and writing out receipts by hand. You’ll often find us sharing a cup of chai while we wait for a customer to arrive. The neighborhood has that old-school business feel where everyone knows each other. It’s dusty and loud, but it’s home for the business. We don’t try to be anything we aren’t; we just handle the steel trade as best we can every single day.
