Our place is over on Robinson Street, at 5A. It’s an old area and Indian Tin Box Mfg. Co. P Ltd. has been around for quite a stretch. We make tin boxes, mostly for packaging stuff like tea or biscuits or whatever people need to keep dry. The building is older, with high ceilings and that smell of metal and solder that never really goes away. We have these heavy machines that have been running for years. They make a lot of noise but they get the job done. It’s mostly just us working through the stacks of tin sheets. Sometimes it’s hot in here, especially in the summer, but we keep the fans going. We aren’t a giant factory with hundreds of people. Just a solid team that knows how to handle the presses. We take the raw sheets, cut them, and fold them into shape. A lot of the work is still done by hand, checking the corners. Robinson Street can get a bit crowded with cars, so getting deliveries in can be a headache sometimes. We just focus on getting the orders out on time. There’s no big fancy reception area here. You just walk in and you’ll see someone working. We like it that way. It’s straightforward. Most of our customers have been coming to us for years because they know we’re always here. We just do the work and try to stay on schedule.
