Indian College Of Arts

The Indian College Of Arts is located at 72, Dum Dum Road in Dum Dum. This place has been around for quite some time now. You can see the history in the walls and the old desks. It is not like those modern schools with glass buildings. Here, it is more about the smell of paint and the sound of students talking in the hallways. We have different rooms for different kinds of work. Some days it is very quiet when everyone is focused on a sketch, other days it gets a bit loud. Being on Dum Dum Road means there is always traffic noise outside, but we are used to it by now. The faculty here are just regular people who have spent their lives making things. They don't talk in big words. They just show the students how to hold a brush or mix a color. We get a lot of local students from around the neighborhood. It is a practical place. We don't have fancy lounges or anything like that. People come here to learn and to work on their craft. Sometimes the supplies run low or a lightbulb needs changing, and we just deal with it. It feels like a community more than a formal institution. We open the doors early and stay until the evening. It is just a spot for art in a busy part of town.
