Hooghly Met Coke & Power Co Ltd-Tata Steel

We are located at P-15 Gariahat Road (S) in Kolkata, right inside the Manjusa Apartments. If you come by, you’ll find us way up on the 7th floor in the southwest wing. It’s a busy part of the city, and the Gariahat traffic is something we deal with every single day. We work under the Hooghly Met Coke & Power Co Ltd name, and we are tied in with Tata Steel. Most of what we do involves the management and coordination of our industrial interests in the coke and power sector. It isn't always glamorous work, mostly involving a lot of desk time and making sure the figures match up with what’s happening at the plants. P.R. Sinha and the rest of the team keep things moving from here. The office has been at this address for a while now, and we’ve gotten used to the rhythm of the apartment building. It’s a bit of a mix, having a business office in a residential-style complex, but it works for us. We don’t have a fancy lobby or anything like that. It’s just a place where we get our work done and keep the operations running smoothly for the bigger company. Dealing with metallurgical coke and power generation involves a lot of technical details, so we stay pretty focused on the day-to-day tasks. Sometimes the Kolkata heat gets to us, but we keep the fans going and stay on top of the paperwork that comes through from Tata Steel. It’s a solid routine.
