Hooghly Ispat Ltd.

We have been operating out of Stephen House for quite a while now. It is on the fifth floor, and if you know B.B.D. Bagh, you know how busy it gets around here. Our space is pretty typical for an old Kolkata office building. The elevators sometimes take their time, so some of us just end up taking the stairs when we are in a hurry, even if it is a bit of a climb. Hooghly Ispat Ltd. deals with steel, and it is the kind of work that keeps us on our toes every day. The office isn't anything fancy. We have our desks, stacks of ledgers, and the usual sound of the city coming through the windows. Most of the staff have been here for years, so we all know how each other likes their tea. Dealing with iron and steel means a lot of technical talk and checking figures over and over. It gets hot in the summer, but we just get on with it. There is always someone coming in with a delivery note or a query about a shipment. We don't spend much time on decorations or making things look pretty for visitors. It’s mostly about making sure the orders are right and the logistics are moving. Being in this part of town means we are right in the middle of everything, which helps with the business side of things. We just do our work, talk to our suppliers, and head home when the sun goes down.
