Hanuman Bandar

We’ve been here on P.N Ghosh Street for a long while now. It's just a regular shop where people come when they need stuff for their homes. Most of our days start early, usually before the sun is even fully up, just to get everything ready for the first few people walking by. Hanuman Bandar isn't some fancy place with big lights. It’s mostly just us and the shelves. Sometimes it gets a bit crowded in the narrow space, but we manage. You’ll find things stacked up wherever they fit. We know most of the people who come in by their first names because they live just around the corner or a couple of lanes over. It’s a busy street, lots of noise from the bikes and carts outside, but inside we just focus on what’s on the list. We keep track of things in our old registers. It’s not always organized perfectly, but we know where everything is. If someone asks for something specific, we usually can find it after a bit of looking. It’s just how we work. Nothing too complicated about it. We just keep the doors open and see who comes in. Sometimes the rains make it a bit messy around the entrance, and the water pools up on the pavement, but that’s just part of being on this street. We’re here every day, except for the odd holiday when we need some rest. The ceiling fan wobbles a bit and the paint is peeling near the door, but it feels like home to us. That’s pretty much the whole story of our little place here.
