Govind Steel Company Ltd. is located right at 219, Chittaranjan Avenue. If you know this part of the city, you know how crowded it gets with all the cars and people walking by. Our office is in an old building that has seen a lot of history. The stairs are a bit steep, and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but it feels like home to us. We handle the steel business from here, mostly talking to suppliers and keeping track of where the materials are going. It’s a lot of phone calls and ledger books. Being on C.R. Avenue means we are in the middle of everything, which is helpful but also noisy. Sometimes the ceiling fans make a clicking sound that we’ve just gotten used to over the years. We don't have a big fancy showroom; it’s mostly just desks, chairs, and piles of papers related to different steel projects. The staff here mostly takes the bus or the metro to get in. We usually have tea delivered from the shop downstairs twice a day. It’s a very normal office where work happens at a steady pace. We aren't trying to be anything we aren't. We just trade in steel and manage the logistics from this old spot. It works for us, and our regulars know exactly which door to knock on. It is a bit cramped when too many people visit at once, but we manage.
