Dipanbita Das Paintings

I spend most of my time at No. 134 Kalicharan Ghosh Road, which is where Dipanbita Das Paintings is located. It’s really just my home and my studio all mixed into one. You won’t find any fancy gallery lights or minimalist furniture here. Instead, there are stacks of canvases in the corners and jars of brushes on every flat surface. The floor is covered in old newspapers and the occasional splash of dried paint. I’ve been living and working in this part of town for quite a while, and the neighborhood feels very familiar to me. Sometimes I leave the windows open and the sounds of the street come drifting in while I’m working on a piece. I don't have a manager or anyone to handle the business side of things. It’s just me doing what I love. Some days the ideas come fast, and other times I spend the whole afternoon just mixing colors and not actually painting anything. I don’t try to make my art fit into what’s popular at the moment. I just paint what I see or feel, and hope that someone else might find something they like in it. It’s a quiet and somewhat messy existence, but it’s real. If you ever stop by, don’t expect a formal showing. It’s just a working space where things are constantly being made and moved around.
