Creative Interior

Creative Interior is our little workshop and office over at 17/1B, Nimtala Ghat Street. This part of Kolkata has so much history, and we’ve been here for quite some time now. Our work is all about interiors—making rooms look decent and functional. We don’t have a massive showroom with expensive lights. Mostly, it’s a space filled with wood shavings, paint cans, and rolls of wallpaper. I spend my days talking to carpenters and trying to make sure the measurements are right. It’s easy to get a measurement wrong if you aren’t paying attention, so I’m always double-checking things. We work on a lot of older houses in this neighborhood, which is a challenge because nothing is ever perfectly straight or square in those old buildings. It keeps things interesting, though. I’m usually covered in some kind of dust by the afternoon. We aren’t some high-end firm that only takes big contracts. We do small kitchens, single bedrooms, or whatever else someone needs. I like the hands-on part of the job the most. Sitting at a desk all day isn't for me. If you walk down Nimtala Ghat Street, you’ll find us easily enough. It’s a busy street with lots of people and shops. We’ve had the same few guys working with us for years, so we know how each other works without having to say much. It’s not always perfect, and sometimes we run out of supplies mid-job, but we get the job done. We just want the rooms to look better than they did before.
