We set up our practice in Action Area 3 of New Town. It is a part of Kolkata that is still growing, so there is construction everywhere you look. Being in the 700156 area means we are right in the middle of all the new apartments and office blocks being built. We do a bit of everything here—architecture, interior design, and we also look at Vastu for people who want that. Our office is pretty straightforward. We have a few desks and a lot of samples of tiles and wood lying around. New Town is a bit different from the old parts of the city because everything is spread out. We spend a lot of time driving between different sites in Action Area 1, 2, and 3. Most of our clients are people who have just bought a new flat and need help making it livable. We do not have a big sales pitch. We just look at the space and tell the owners what we think would work best. Sometimes we have to explain why a certain Vastu rule might be hard to follow in a modern flat. It is a lot of problem-solving. We are not trying to be the biggest firm in the city. We just want to do good work for the people moving into this neighborhood. It is busy, dusty, and always changing.
