Chirantan Datta

Chirantan Datta is located on the second floor of a building called Mangaldeep. The address is 56 R.K. Chatterjee Road. It’s a bit of a climb up the stairs, especially on the hotter days in Kolkata, but it’s where we spend most of our time. The office has a decent view of R.K. Chatterjee Road, which is always full of people and rickshaws. Inside Mangaldeep, our space is quite packed. We have boxes of files in the corners and the desks are always covered in papers. It’s a working office, not a showroom. Chirantan Datta is usually at the main desk, and the rest of us find a spot where we can. We don't have a fancy coffee machine; we just use a small electric kettle in the corner. Sometimes the power cuts out for a few minutes, but that’s just part of being in this area. We’ve been here long enough that the sounds of the street just blend into the background. It’s not a corporate environment at all. We talk loudly, laugh a bit, and get the work done. There are no mission statements on the walls, just a calendar and some old photos. It’s a practical, lived-in space that suits the way we operate.
