Bijay Pathak

Bijay Pathak has an office at 51/9 B.L. Saha Road. It is a pretty typical Kolkata neighborhood. The office is located in a building that’s easy to miss if you aren't looking for the number 51/9. It is a modest space, nothing like those tall towers you see in the city center. We have a couple of desks pushed together and some shelves that are overflowing with files. It’s not the most organized place in the world, but we know where everything is. We don't have a receptionist sitting at the front. Usually, when someone walks in, whoever is closest to the door looks up and helps them out. The lighting isn't great, especially when the sun goes down, but we have enough lamps to keep going. Bijay Pathak is usually right in the middle of it all. We don't spend money on expensive carpets or designer furniture because it just isn't necessary for what we do. It’s a place for work, not for showing off. The atmosphere is generally quiet, though you can hear the kids playing in the street outside sometimes. We just take things one day at a time and try to stay on top of the paperwork. It’s a very local, small-scale operation that has been part of the B.L. Saha Road community for a while. No bells or whistles, just a desk and a chair. That is how we have always done things.
