Bigboss Metals Ltd is right here on D.H. Road in Thakurpukur. If you know the area, you know we are tucked in with Bimala Paints at number 189. It is a busy spot. There is always a lot of noise from the traffic outside and the sound of metal being moved around. We have been in this Kolkata neighborhood for a bit now. Most days it is just us dealing with whatever metal orders come through the door. It gets quite hot in the afternoons, especially when the sun hits the front of the shop. We don’t have fancy air conditioning in every corner, just some old fans that do their job well enough. Sometimes the delivery trucks get stuck in the narrow parts of the road, which is a bit of a headache for everyone involved. We just get on with it though. People stop by asking for specific bits and pieces, and we try to find what they need in the stacks. It isn't a glossy operation. There is dust and the smell of iron and sometimes a bit of paint from next door. We keep our records in thick ledgers and answer the phone when it rings. It’s a simple way of working. Most of the staff live nearby, so they walk or take the bus. We have a tea break at four, and that is usually when the most talk happens. It’s just a regular place doing regular work with metal.
