Explore Sikkim

Explore Sikkim is based out of Bhawani Pur. It’s a small office tucked away where we spend most of our time on the phone. We talk to drivers and hotel owners up in the mountains. Even though we are down here in the city, our minds are usually up in the hills. We started this because we liked traveling ourselves. Now it is just a lot of paperwork and making sure people don't get lost. The office has maps pinned to the walls and some old calendars. It’s not very modern. We use a computer for the emails, but most things are still written down in a big ledger. My brother helps with the bookings and I talk to the customers who walk in through the door. Bhawani Pur is a nice enough place to work, though finding parking near the office is a nightmare. People come to us when they want to see the snow or the tea gardens. We tell them the truth about the roads and the weather. No point in lying about how long the drive takes. Sometimes the internet goes down and we just have to wait. We aren't some big travel agency with a call center. It’s just us in a room trying to get things organized for people's holidays. We hope they have a good time and come back safely. That's really it for us, just a small local operation.
