Walks In Kolkata is based at 20 Strand Road. If you know the city, you know that Strand Road is a pretty famous stretch right along the river. We have a small office here where we organize everything. It is not a fancy place at all. Most of the time we are out and about anyway, but this is where the planning happens and the phone calls are made. We have got maps and handwritten notes scattered around on the desks. It feels like a real working space, not some sterile corporate office with glass walls. We started this because we really like the city and wanted to do something related to it. Being at 20 Strand Road puts us close to a lot of the history we talk about. We are not professional writers or marketing experts. We just like what we do and we know the streets well. The building is old and has a lot of character, which we really like. Some days the traffic outside is loud and the air is heavy, but you get used to it after a while. We do not have a big mission statement or any corporate slogans. We just try to keep things organized so we can do our work properly. It is just a small group of us here. We drink a lot of coffee and try to figure out the best ways to get things done. It is a simple setup for a simple business in a busy city.
