Barnali Mandal

Barnali Mandal is located at 21/1, Vidyatan Sarani in Kolkata. The landmark we usually tell people is the Katipara Rikshaw Stand. It’s a very local spot in the 700035 area. You’ll always see the rikshaws lined up there, and the drivers are usually chatting while they wait for passengers to come by. My place is just a short walk from there. It’s a modest setup, nothing like those big institutes you see in the main city areas. I have a room where I sit with the students and we go over their lessons. It’s quite quiet here most of the time, which helps with the teaching. I don’t have a lot of fancy furniture, just the essential things like a sturdy table and some chairs. Sometimes the tea seller comes by and I take a small break with a hot cup. The students who come here are mostly from the nearby neighborhoods. We don't really do any big promotions. Word of mouth is how most people find out about what I do. It’s a very simple life, teaching the local kids and helping them with their schoolwork. I’ve lived in this area for a long time, so I know the families around here pretty well. It feels more like a community thing sometimes, though it is my daily work. It’s just me doing my bit to help the students in this part of Kolkata. We keep things honest and practical.
