Chitra Pote. is located right at my home, House No. 9 A/4 Baishnab Sammilani Lane. It’s a small operation, mostly just me working in the back area where there’s enough room for my supplies. The lane is quite narrow and quiet, which I like. I’ve always been into making things by hand. Whether it’s painting or working on small crafts, it’s what fills my time. My shelves are crowded with half-finished pieces and jars of pigment. Sometimes the cat knocks something over, but that’s just part of working from a house. I don't have a big shop window. Most people who come by are neighbors or people who’ve heard about what I do from someone down the street. It’s not a fancy business. I just make what I can and hope people like it enough to take it home. The floor is usually covered in some kind of dust or paint splatters. I try to keep it organized, but when I’m in the middle of a project, everything just ends up everywhere. Baishnab Sammilani Lane has a nice feel to it, very old-fashioned. I spend a lot of my mornings just prepping the materials. It’s slow work and you can’t really rush it. Some days nothing goes right and I have to start over, but that’s just the nature of it. It’s a quiet life here, just me and my work. I don't need much more than my brushes and some clay.
