Kolkata is always crowded but Kestopur has its own kind of rush especially near the 206 Bridge Bus-Stand. Ashabari is located right there on the Kestopur Main Road in Siddharth Colony in Krishnapur. If you have ever waited for a bus at the 206 bridge then you have probably seen our shop. The noise of the buses and the rickshaws is something you just get used to after a while. It is a very busy spot because people are always coming and going from the bridge. The shop itself is tucked into the colony area but faces the main road so we see everything that happens outside. We have been sitting here watching the area change over the years as more buildings come up. It is a bit of a tight space inside because we have so many things crammed onto the shelves. Most people stop in when they are getting off the bus to grab something on their way home. It’s a very practical kind of place. I usually spend the afternoon sorting through the new arrivals or just cleaning the glass counters because of all the dust from the road. The evenings are the busiest when everyone is returning from work and the street lights come on. It is just a regular part of life here in this corner of Kolkata. We just keep things moving and try to have enough stock for the evening rush.
