Ankit Metals And Power Ltd is based over at 4 Ananda Lane in Kolkata. If you know the area, you know how tight those streets can get. It is a world away from the big factory sites but this is where we handle the books and the phone calls. The office is tucked away and sometimes it feels a bit cramped when everyone is in at the same time. We have been working out of this spot for a while now. Dealing with the metal trade and power projects means there is always a bit of chaos. Files get stacked up on desks and the tea guy comes around twice a day to keep us going. It’s not a shiny corporate building with glass walls. It’s an old building with a lot of stairs and character. We spend our hours talking to vendors and trying to coordinate things across the different sites. It gets noisy outside with the traffic, but we just shut the windows and keep at it. Some days are slow and we just sit around chatting about the weather, but usually, it is a scramble to get everything sorted. It’s just how we do things here in the city. No big speeches or fancy titles, just a group of people trying to keep the business running from a small lane in North Kolkata.
