Academy Of Creative Art

We’re tucked away at 75/2C Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Road, right near the Park Street area. It's an old part of town and the building has that character you only get with age. Inside the Academy of Creative Art, you’ll usually find someone working on a canvas or some sketches. The light in the rooms isn't always perfect, but we make it work with what we have. People walk up the stairs and you can hear every step because they’re old. It’s not a quiet place, especially when there’s a class going on and everyone is talking at once. We have supplies stacked up in the corners and sometimes the smell of paint is pretty strong in the hallways. Park Street is always busy outside, so the noise from the traffic drifts in through the windows if we leave them open. We aren’t trying to be a fancy gallery or anything like that. It’s just a space for people to come and do their art. Most of us here just like making things and we’ve been doing it at this address for a good while. Sometimes the electricity acts up and we have to wait for the maintenance guy to show up. It’s just part of being in an older building in this part of the city. We keep the doors open and just get on with the day’s work, whatever that happens to be at the time.
