About Abhilasha Singhania – Art & Craft in Kolkata
If you know Camac Street, you know how busy it gets. Abhilasha Singhania is located at number 5, in a building called Saraswati Niket. We are in Flat No. D-6. It is right in the middle of all the noise and the people rushing to get to their own offices. Getting up to the flat can be a bit of a wait if the lift is being slow, which happens more often than not. The space inside is cozy, maybe a bit too cozy when we have a lot of visitors at once. It is not some high-tech lounge. We have a few cupboards for files and a couple of desks that have seen better days. I usually have a fan pointed right at me because the air does not move much in this part of the building. Being on Camac Street means you are always near everything, but it also means it is never truly quiet. You can hear the horns honking from downstairs even with the windows shut. We just keep our heads down and do what needs doing. There is no big sign outside, just a small one by the door. It is an honest way to work. We do not spend money on fancy decorations because we would rather just get the work finished. It is just Abhilasha’s place, a simple office where we handle the daily grind without making a big fuss about it for no reason.
