Durga Metal

Working at Durga Metal means living with a lot of noise. We are located at No. 58 A. N. S. Road. Being right near the flyover bridge makes it easy to explain where we are, but the bridge also echoes the sound of every truck that passes overhead. It’s a bit dark under there sometimes. Inside the shop, there are pieces of metal everywhere. We have sheets and rods leaning against the walls. The floor is grey and usually covered in a bit of metal shavings or oil. We wear old clothes because everything you touch is a bit dirty or sharp. It’s not a place for fancy outfits. A. N. S. Road is always busy with people heading towards the bridge. We have a small office area boxed off in the corner, but mostly we are out on the floor moving stuff around. The air feels a bit heavy when the machines are running. We’ve got a big heavy door that we slide open every morning. Some days are slower than others, but there is always something to reorganize or a stack of metal to move. We don’t really have a waiting area or anything like that. People just come in, tell us what they need, and we find it for them. It’s a straightforward way to spend the day. The flyover bridge is like a giant roof over the whole neighborhood. We just keep at it.
