Sanjay Ghodawat International School

If you drive down the Sangli Kolhapur Highway, you’ll find us at Gat No 555 in Atigre. It’s a bit of a journey out here, but the air is a lot fresher than it is in the city. We’ve got a lot of space around us, which is a nice change. At Sanjay Ghodawat International School, the day starts when the first buses roll in from Kolhapur and the surrounding villages. You can see the sugarcane fields from some of the classroom windows. The staff here is a mix of people from the local area and some who travel from further away. We spend a lot of time making sure the grounds are kept up, especially after the rains when everything grows so fast. It’s a practical environment. We don’t spend much time on fancy speeches; we’re too busy making sure the science lab has what it needs or that the sports field is ready for the afternoon. In the canteen, you’ll find people talking about the local news or the latest cricket scores. It’s a very grounded place. We face the same challenges any other school does, like fixing leaky taps or managing a busy schedule, but we do it with a smile. It’s just a group of people working together to make sure the school runs smoothly for the kids in Atigre. We don't worry too much about being flashy, we just want to make sure the school work gets done.
