Meeraj Engineering Works

Meeraj Engineering Works is located over at B-9 in the MIDC area on Apple Court Road. It is an industrial spot, so there is always a lot of noise and trucks moving around. The shop itself is full of lathes and drilling machines that have been around for quite some time. There is usually grease on the floor and the smell of cutting oil in the air most mornings. We spend a lot of time looking at blueprints or just measuring pieces of iron to see where the cuts need to go. It isn’t the kind of place where you’d find a clean desk or a waiting room with a TV. People usually just walk right into the workshop to talk about what they need done. Some of the guys have been working here for years and they know the machines better than anyone else. We get a lot of work from other businesses nearby in the industrial zone. Sometimes a machine breaks down and they need a part turned or a piece of metal shaped right away. It can get pretty hectic when three or four people are all waiting for their stuff at the same time. The sun hits the metal roof in the afternoons and it gets quite warm, so we keep the big doors open to get a breeze. It’s just a place where we get the job done without much fuss.
