J.A. Engineering

J.A. Engineering is over at Plot No. B-8/6/4 in the M.I.D.C. area of Taluka Miraj. Being in Dist Sangli means we are right in the middle of a lot of other workshops and small factories. Our place is basically a big shed filled with lathes and different tools for metalwork. It gets pretty dusty inside when we are grinding things down but that is just how an engineering shop is supposed to be. There is usually a radio playing in the corner somewhere to keep the mood up while the guys are measuring out parts or welding frames together. We started out with just a few basic machines and added more over the years as we found more space in the plot. The yard outside sometimes gets crowded with raw steel pipes and flat plates waiting to be cut. We spend most of the day looking at drawings and trying to figure out the best way to fit things together without wasting material. It is a hands-on kind of life here and our clothes usually end up with oil stains by the end of the shift. Customers from around the district drop by with sketches on bits of paper and we just try to make sense of what they need. It is simple work but it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday without much fuss or drama.
