Junior Engineer

Maharashtra can get really humid in the monsoon season, and this building reflects that sometimes with the dampness in the air. The corridors are a bit narrow and always have that smell of old paper and machinery oil that stays with you. I’ve been coming to this same spot for quite a while now. The stairs are a bit steep, so it’s a workout every time we have to carry something heavy up to the office. We don’t have a fancy website or a big team of people. Usually, it’s just the sound of the ceiling fan and the occasional phone call from a client. Sangli is a busy town, and Gaon Bhag is right in the thick of it all. There is a guy who sells tea right outside the building entrance, and he knows exactly how we like it made. The windows in the office look out over some other rooftops and the street below. We spend a lot of time looking at blueprints or checking measurements on the desk. It isn’t a glamorous job, but it’s what we do. The desks are a bit scratched up from years of heavy use. We don’t worry much about how things look.
