M.D.V International School is right by the Mumbai Goa Highway in Kankavli. If you look for Gate No 2, that is where we are. It’s a busy location because of all the traffic passing through Sindhudurg. You can hear the trucks shifting gears as they go uphill sometimes. We’ve been here for a bit now, and the school has grown slowly. It’s a simple building with several floors. We don't have any of those massive manicured lawns you see in brochures, just a practical space where kids come to learn. The monsoon season here is really something, the rain comes down so hard you can barely hear yourself talk in the classrooms. We spend a lot of time just keeping the water out of the hallways. The teachers here are mostly from the local villages around Kankavli. They bring their own lunches and sit together in the small staff room. It’s a very grounded place. We don't use big words to describe what we do. We just open the gates in the morning and close them in the evening. There are always chores to do, like fixing a leaky tap or replacing a light bulb. Life here follows the rhythm of the highway and the school calendar. It’s just how we live and work in this part of the world. We focus on the students and the daily work without much fuss.
