Devchand College

If you head out towards Arjunnagar in the Kagal area, you will find Devchand College sitting there. It has been a staple of Kolhapur for a long time. The building shows its age in a few places, but that is just part of its character. We have students coming in from all over Maharashtra to sit in these halls. The benches are a bit worn down from years of use, and the corridors always have that specific smell of old paper and floor cleaner. During the monsoon, everything gets very green around the campus. The canteen is usually the loudest place, filled with the smell of hot snacks and students talking over each other. We don't have those fancy modern glass walls you see in city colleges. It is mostly brick and mortar here. The administrative staff in the office are always busy with some form or another. 416013 is the code for our mail, though most people just walk in if they need something. We focus on the daily lectures and making sure the labs are ready. Sometimes the local monkeys come onto the roof and make a bit of a mess. It’s just part of life in this part of the country. We aren't trying to be anything we aren't. Devchand College is just a place where people come to learn and get their work done. It feels like home to many of us who work here every day.
