Mahalaxmi Misal

Our shop is located at 170 Ward B, Gala No 2 in the Mahalaxmi Towers. We are right on Vidyapeeth High School Road, which is very close to the Kolhapur Railway Station. Because of the location, we see a lot of people who are just getting off the train and looking for something spicy to eat. Being opposite Indumati School means we also get a lot of students and parents stopping by. Misal is what we do, and in Kolhapur, everyone has their own opinion on how it should taste. We make ours pretty spicy, the way it is supposed to be around here. The shop isn't very large, so during the morning breakfast hours, it gets very crowded. People are often standing and eating or waiting for a stool to open up. We start early in the morning to get the rassa ready. The smell of the spices usually drifts out onto the street. We don't have any fancy decor, just some basic tables and a counter where we take the orders. Most of our customers are in a hurry to get to work or school, so we have to be quick. We spend a lot of time washing the small steel bowls and making sure we have enough bread for the day. It is a busy, noisy little spot, but it's been our daily routine for a long time.
