Kamala College

Kamala College is situated at C.S.No.1215 in the 'E' Ward of Kolhapur. We are right on the 1st Lane, which is a busy part of the city. The building is older, with high ceilings and those thick walls that stay a bit cooler in the summer. You can hear the sounds of the city through the windows all day—scooters honking and people talking in the street. The hallways are long and have that smell of old paper and floor cleaner. Students are always rushing around between classes, some carrying heavy stacks of books. We have a small staff room where we sit and have tea during the breaks. The desks in the classrooms are the heavy wooden kind that have been there for decades, with names carved into them by students who left years ago. Kolhapur gets quite a lot of rain during the monsoon, and we often have to put buckets out in the hallway for the leaks. It’s just part of being in an old building. Most of our students come from the surrounding districts, and they spend a lot of time in the library. It’s not a fancy place with modern gadgets in every room, but it has a solid feel to it. We keep things running as best as we can, making sure the registers are updated and the classrooms are opened on time every morning. There is always a lot of chatter during the lunch hour.
