Madan Mohan Malviya Inter College

Madan Mohan Malviya Inter College is out in Karchhana, Allahabad. It’s a place that’s been part of the landscape for a long time. The building itself shows its age a bit, but it’s sturdy and does the job for the hundreds of kids who come through the gates every morning. We teach a bit of everything here, from the languages to the sciences. Most of the students come from the surrounding villages and they walk or bike in. It’s a simple life at the college. We don't have air conditioning or anything fancy, just open windows and ceiling fans that hum all day. The teachers here are mostly locals who have been teaching the same subjects for decades. We spend our days at the chalkboard and our afternoons sitting under the trees talking about the upcoming exams. It’s a bit dusty because of the roads nearby, but nobody really minds. We’re here to give these kids a chance to finish their schooling without having to travel all the way into the main city of Allahabad. It’s a straightforward operation. We open the gates, we teach, and then we go home. The focus is always on the students and making sure they get through their intermediate years so they can find work or move on to more study. It’s just a regular college doing regular work every day for the local families.
