Ch. Jagadev Singh I College

Teekar is a bit of a trek if you’re coming from the main part of Allahabad, but that’s where we are. This college sits in Koraon, and it’s surrounded by a lot of open land and some smaller houses. The building is a sturdy concrete block that gets quite hot in the peak of summer. We don't have a lot of the fancy extras you find in city colleges. Most of our rooms are just filled with rows of benches and a chalkboard at the front. The floors are a bit worn down from all the footsteps over the years. We get students from all over the Koraon area, many of whom have to travel a long way to get here. The canteen is just a small stall that sells tea and some snacks, and it’s usually the busiest place on the grounds. We spend a lot of time dealing with the administration and making sure the exam forms are filled out correctly. It’s a very hands-on, no-nonsense kind of place. We don't have a glossy brochure because we don't really need one; people in the villages around here know who we are. The staff is local, and we all deal with the same issues like the dusty roads and the long commute. It’s just a normal part of the landscape in this part of Allahabad. We open the doors, do the teaching, and lock up when the sun starts to go down.
