Karunya School

We are located in Madichel, which is a part of the Kanyakumari district. It’s a pretty quiet spot compared to the big towns. Karunya School is just a local place where the neighborhood kids come to study. We have a few buildings on the property, surrounded by quite a bit of greenery, which is nice when it’s hot outside. The road leading up to the school is narrow, and you’ll often see the school bus navigating it carefully in the mornings. Inside, the classrooms are simple. We have the usual benches and a few cupboards for books and supplies. It’s the kind of place where everyone knows everyone else’s name. The teachers often stay back late to talk to parents or finish up their grading. We don’t have a lot of high-tech equipment, just the basics like chalk and maps on the walls. During the rainy season, the sound of the rain on the roof can be so loud that we have to stop talking for a minute. The playground is just a patch of earth where the kids run around during their breaks. It’s a very honest, straightforward kind of school. We aren't trying to be anything other than a good place for the local kids in Madichel to get their education. Most of the staff live just a short walk away, so the school is a big part of our daily lives here.
