K.D. Wire & Wire Products

Our unit is at 41-B in the Co-operative Industrial Estate. It’s a regular industrial area where everyone is busy making something or other. We focus on wires and different wire products. The machines we use are pretty loud, and they run for most of the day. We have coils of wire stacked up against the walls, different gauges and materials depending on what we are making. It’s a lot of physical work, moving the heavy rolls around and setting up the machines. The industrial estate has been home to us for a while now. We know the neighbors and the guys who deliver the raw materials. It’s not a quiet place, there’s always a hum or a bang coming from somewhere. We don’t spend much time in an office; most of the work happens right there on the floor. We check the wire for thickness and make sure it’s coiled right before it goes out. Sometimes we are making fencing, other times it’s something for a specific industrial use. We just take the orders as they come and get the machines through the production cycle. It’s a straightforward business. We don't have fancy brochures or anything. People just know where we are in the estate and they come by when they need wire. We keep the gate open during the day and just work through our list of tasks until the machines are shut down at night.
