Lakshmi Vilasm Lp School

You can find us at the Lakshmi Vilasm Lp building on Nilangal Street in Chendayad. It’s a small place in a quiet part of Kannur. The school has been around for many years and the building definitely shows its age in some places. We have these old tiled roofs that look great but require a lot of maintenance whenever the rainy season comes around. Most of the children here come from the nearby houses in the village, so it’s a very tight-knit community. The mornings are filled with the sound of kids playing in the small yard and the teachers trying to get them into their classrooms. We don’t have fancy computers or high-tech classrooms; we mostly use chalkboards and old wooden benches. The staff room is a small corner where we keep our bags and share snacks during the break. There’s a lot of manual work involved in keeping the place running, like sweeping the floors and making sure the water tank is full. We spend our time checking notebooks and preparing for the next day's lessons. It’s a simple, honest way of working, and we don’t put on any acts for anyone. The pace of life in Chendayad is slow, and our school fits right into that. We just focus on the basics and make sure the kids have a safe place to be during the day while their parents are at work. Every year is pretty much the same, and we like it that way.
