Sri Ramanujar Engineering College

Our college is located out on Kelambakkam High Road in Vandalur. It's a bit away from the main city rush of Chennai, which is nice because there’s more space for everyone. Sri Ramanujar Engineering College is easy to spot if you are heading towards the zoo or the outer ring road. We have been here for a long time, and the campus has grown bit by bit. You see a lot of trees around, which helps with the heat. The day starts early with the college buses pulling in. Students are everywhere, mostly worried about their exams or projects. In the labs, you can find people working on old engines or typing away in the computer rooms. It’s not a place with a lot of bells and whistles. We keep things pretty simple. The cafeteria is where most of the news travels. Our staff members mostly live in the surrounding areas like Tambaram or Vandalur itself, so they know the neighborhood well. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait for the generators to kick in, but that’s just part of life here. People know us as a local landmark in this part of the city. We don’t try to be something we’re not; we’re just a place for students to get their degrees and move on to their jobs. It’s a steady kind of life at the college, day in and day out, year after year.
