Saravanan Traders

You can find Saravanan Traders over at 13, 2nd Cross Street in Ravindra Nagar. We’ve been here in Guduvanchery for a long time. Chengalpattu has grown a lot since we first opened the doors. Our place is tucked away a bit on the cross street, so it’s not as loud as the main road. We like it that way. Most of the people who come here are locals from the neighborhood. We handle various trading items, mostly stuff that people around here need for their homes or small projects. The shop isn't very large, so we have to be careful about where we stack things. There’s always a bit of dust, but that’s expected with this kind of work. We don't have a website or anything like that. We just talk to people face to face. Sometimes we sit outside on the bench when it’s not too hot. It’s a simple operation. Just me and a couple of helpers. We know most of the people on this street by name. It feels more like a community than just a place of business. We don't use any fancy systems to track things, just our notebooks and memory mostly. If someone needs something, we see if we have it in the back. If not, we try to get it. That’s just how Saravanan Traders works every day here in Ravindra Nagar. It’s a steady, quiet life for us.
