You’ll find us out on Mappeddu Road in Perungalathur. It’s a bit of a drive from the main part of Chennai, but it’s quieter out here. The campus is spread out, and we spend a lot of time walking between the different blocks. It’s an engineering college, so there’s always the sound of some machine or a workshop going on somewhere. We have plenty of trees, which helps with the Chennai heat, but it’s still pretty warm most of the year. The labs are filled with equipment that has been around for a while, showing some wear and tear but still working fine. Students hang out in the canteen area when they aren't in class. Our office is usually full of files and people trying to get their paperwork sorted before the semester ends. It’s a straightforward place to be. We don’t do big speeches or fancy events every week. It’s mostly just lectures, lab work, and trying to keep the electricity running during the peak summer months. Most of us live nearby or take the bus in. It’s a community of people who are just trying to get their degrees and move on to the next thing. We keep the gates open, and there’s always a security guard waving people in. Sometimes the stray dogs sleep under the parked cars, but they don't bother anyone. It’s just a normal campus life for us.
