Lala Chandra Sen Memorial Public School

We are tucked away in a by lane in the Beltola area of Guwahati. It is a bit quieter than the main roads, which is nice for a school. We have been here for quite some time now, and we have seen a lot of kids grow up in these classrooms. The school is named after Lala Chandra Sen, and we just try to keep things running in a way that serves the local community. It is a public school, so we get a real mix of students from all over the neighborhood. The building is old and has a lot of history to it. You can see it in the wooden desks and the way the hallways are laid out. We don't have a lot of money for fancy upgrades, so we make do with what we have. The teachers are mostly local people who have been with us for years. We spend our days going through the textbooks and trying to make sure the kids understand what they are reading. It is a very hands-on kind of place. During recess, the kids spill out into the lane and it gets very noisy for a bit. We aren't trying to be the most modern school in the city. We just want to be a reliable place where parents can send their kids knowing they will be looked after and taught the basics. It’s just a simple, honest school. We focus on the kids and the daily lessons.
