D. K. High School

D. K. High School is located out in Dhangdhingguri. It is a bit of a quiet spot compared to the bigger towns, which is actually quite nice for a school. We have students coming in from the surrounding villages and the local neighborhood. Most of them have been with us since they were much younger. The school day is pretty straightforward. We start early and the students go through their different periods for history, math, and languages. The building itself is older and has that lived-in feel you get with a place that sees hundreds of feet every day. Our teachers are local people who care about how the kids are doing. It is not a place with a lot of high-tech equipment, but we have enough books and materials to teach properly. During the winter months, it gets quite cool in the classrooms, so everyone wears their thick sweaters. We see a lot of hard work happening in the senior classes especially, as those students are getting ready for their future. The courtyard is where everyone gathers when the sun is out. It is just a regular high school where we try to keep things orderly and make sure the students are learning what they need to. It’s a practical place for practical people. We just keep doing our thing day after day, year after year, without much fuss or fanfare.
