Dhimmant Travels

Dhimmant Travels is tucked into Moni Market, at shop number 21. This is right near Basistha Chariali, so there is always a lot of movement outside with the autos and rickshaws constantly honking. Our space in the market is small, but it fits what we need. We have a desk and a couple of stools for when people want to sit and talk about their travel plans. Usually, it’s locals from the Beltola area looking to visit family or head out of Guwahati for a few days. We keep track of the different taxi rates and bus timings on a ledger and the computer. It gets quite warm in the afternoons, so we keep the fan going full speed. The market is an old building, and you can see the wear on the walls, but it’s a central spot. We’ve been here long enough that the shopkeepers nearby all know us. We don’t do anything too complicated. If someone needs a vehicle for a wedding or just a trip to the hills, we see what is available and let them know. There’s no big staff, just us managing the daily requests as they come. Sometimes we are out running errands, so the shutter might be halfway down for a bit. It’s just a regular local business helping folks get from point A to point B without a lot of fuss.
