Manikeswari Organic Grower Producer Company Limited

We’ve been working out of this spot in Kadamguda on the Lanjigarh Road for a while now. Most of the people here in Kalahandi know where the office is, right near the main path. We started this grower company because we were tired of how things were being handled with the big buyers. It’s just a bunch of us who grow organic crops and decided to put our names together. The building isn't anything special, just a place to keep our records and meet up when the harvest is coming in. Sometimes it gets really dusty when the trucks go by on the road, but that’s just how it is here. We spend a lot of time talking to the farmers about their soil and making sure they aren't using the bad sprays. It’s a lot of walking and checking on fields. We aren't trying to be some huge corporation. We just want to make sure the food we grow is clean and that the people growing it get their fair share. Last year was tough with the rains, but we managed. My cousin helps with the paperwork sometimes when it gets too much for me. We drink a lot of tea and talk about the prices. If you stop by Kadamguda, you’ll probably see us sitting out front or moving bags around. It's honest work and keeps us busy from sunrise till the evening.
