Lakuwa Farmer Producer Company Limited

We are based out of Sibsagar, specifically in the Jngaghal Nazira area near where Jiten Rajakobaar lives. It is a quiet spot. Most of us here have been farming for as long as we can remember. This company, Lakuwa Farmer Producer Company Limited, started because a few of us thought it would be easier to handle our crops if we worked as a group. Life here in Assam is mostly about the land and the seasons. When the rain comes, we get busy. When it is dry, we worry about the water. We do not have a big office or anything fancy like that. It is just us farmers trying to figure out how to sell what we grow without losing too much money to the middleman. Sometimes the roads are bad, especially during the monsoon, so getting things to market is a bit of a struggle. We grow mostly what grows well in this part of Sibsagar. It is hard work, and some days are better than others. We are not experts in business, but we know our soil. Jiten’s house is where we often meet up to talk about what seeds to buy or how the harvest is looking this year. It feels more like a bunch of neighbors helping each other out than a real big company. We just keep our heads down and keep working the fields day after day. It is what we know how to do best.
