Our place is located in Badulipukhuri, which is over in the Majgaon area near Pirakata in Jorhat. If you spend any time in this part of Assam, you know that tea is everything. It is what we grow, what we talk about, and how we pay our bills. Badulipukhuri Tea Producer Company Limited was set up because a bunch of us growers realized that we were getting a raw deal working by ourselves. Tea gardens take a lot of looking after. You have to prune them, feed the soil, and then pick the leaves at exactly the right time. The heat here can get really heavy, and the rain during the monsoon season never seems to stop. We are not some big estate with a massive factory and a fancy sign at the front gate. We are just local people from the village. Our office is a small spot where we meet up to figure out our next steps. We do not have any marketing people or anyone to write glossy brochures. It is just us and the tea plants. Jorhat is a famous place for tea, but for the people actually growing it, it is just a lot of hard work and sweating in the fields. We started this company to help our families get by a little easier. It is a simple goal, and we just take it day by day. We are just regular folks doing our jobs.
