About Vintage Handicrafts – Art & Craft in Jodhpur
Our shop is tucked away on Gaddi Road, right outside Siwanchi Gate. It’s a busy part of town where you can always hear the traffic and people shouting to each other. We spend most of our days here working with different types of wood and old metal pieces. It isn't a fancy place with air conditioning or a glass front. Instead, it’s a dusty workshop where we get our hands dirty every single day. We don't really do much in the way of advertising because word of mouth usually keeps us busy enough. Vintage Handicrafts is really just a simple operation. Sometimes the wood smells really strong, especially when we are cutting it in the mornings. We have a few old fans that creak while they spin, but they help a little bit with the heat. We don't follow a strict corporate schedule. We start when the sun is up and leave when the work for the day is finished. If a piece isn't looking right, we just start over or fix it until it feels okay. It’s a slow way to live, but we like it better than being in a big office. There is a tea stall just down the road where we go twice a day. When people come by, they usually find us in the middle of a project. We don't mind the interruption, though it might take us a minute to put down the hammer. We’ve been at this address for a long time, and we don't plan on moving anywhere else. It’s just us, our tools, and the work.
