Our workshop is inside the Dharampura Building on New Chandpole Road. It’s tucked inside Siwanchi Gate, which is a busy, old part of the city. We work on handicrafts here. It’s the kind of place where there’s always some wood shavings on the floor or the smell of polish in the air. We make things by hand, so nothing is ever perfectly identical, but that’s how we like it. The building itself is old, which fits the kind of work we do. We have a few rooms where different stages of the work happen—one for carving, one for finishing, and a small space where we keep the finished pieces. It can get a bit cramped when we have a lot of orders to finish. We don't have a big storefront with lights and signs. People usually find us through word of mouth or they’ve been coming to us for years. It’s a quiet kind of work, mostly. We sit and focus on the details of whatever piece we’re working on that day. Sometimes it’s furniture, other times it’s smaller decorative items. We just take it one day at a time. The heat in the summer can be tough in these old buildings, but we keep the fans going and keep working. It’s a family-style environment here, even if we aren’t all related. We enjoy what we make.
